Alex Berkley is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist at Hauser Family Therapy. Alex earned her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University and feels connected to serving the communities she grew up around as a native of Evanston, Illinois. Alex values creating a space of trust, healing, and empowerment as she challenges her clients to grow and approach things with new insight and perspective. With a background in sports, Alex understands the importance of working as a team in therapy and encourages clients to lean into their strengths and be vulnerable when approaching the obstacles they find in their path.
Alex uses humor, curiosity, and empathy to help children, adolescents, individuals, families, and couples to feel more grounded in themselves and their relationships. Guided by a narrative, playful, and integrative systemic approach, Alex works with her client to find empathy for themselves and get out of patterns of thought and behavior that no longer serve them. All the while tailoring the therapy experience to the client’s needs and searching to create spaces of support and safety in and out of the therapy room.
As a culturally curious therapist, Alex seeks not to judge but to understand where everyone is coming from. Leading with kindness and curiosity she hopes to build client’s compassion for themself and others. Alex also continuously works to acknowledge her implicit bias and take into account how systems of oppression impact everyone’s world.
