Sarah Barcelona

Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

As a relational therapist, Sarah believes that our relationships are the cornerstone from which we heal, evolve, and discover ourselves. She prioritizes a warm, curious, and collective exploration of how our familial and cultural backgrounds, friendships, and romantic connections impact how we each move through the world. While she primarily draws from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), emotion-focused therapy (EFT), internal family systems therapy (IFS), and attachment-based therapy, her work is client-centered above all else, tailored to your distinctive needs and goals. As you choose colors and add brushstrokes to the canvas of your life, Sarah guides you in stepping back to admire the bigger picture as it unfolds. Together, you will decide where paint can be layered and scraped away, co-crafting a masterpiece that is uniquely yours.

Sarah is passionate about working with children, adolescents, young adults, parents, and families with a variety of presenting concerns, including anxiety, depression, emotion regulation, attachment, dating, relational distress, work/life balance, and life stage transitions. She holds a Master’s of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from The Family Institute at Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Cornell University. In her free time, Sarah is an avid distance runner who enjoys art, gardening, cooking, baking, and hiking, all of which shape her zealous, creative, and nurturing approach to therapy.

Sarah’s training in Integrative Systemic Therapy (IST) informs her systems-oriented, strengths-based approach to working with diverse individual and relational systems. She is an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist who is dedicated to openly and empathically collaborating with her clients, pulling from a variety of theoretical models to help them make meaningful changes in their lives. She strives to support you in harvesting your inherent skills and strengths, empowering you on your journey of healing and growth.
